I recommend Tae Kwon Do shoes which can be purchased from World Martial Arts Academy at Cave Springs in St. Peters.
Actually I bought my recent pair of jazz shoes from Chad Theatrical on Jungerman in St. Peters for $40. They sell some really nice bags to store shoes in......several styles for $18.

In addition, we've found that a good substitute for ghillies are an inexpensive jazz oxford, which can be purchased from many dance studios for about US$18.00. Roughly half the cost of ghillies and less offensive to male-type dancers than ballet slippers...
